One Mozart aria.

One Italian belcanto aria.

One Verdi aria.

One romantic aria.

One aria from the above categories at the choice of the candidate.

 

One 20th Century aria.

One aria by a Hungarian composer

One musical or operetta aria

One aria at the choice of the candidate from the above categories.

 

One poem at the choice of the candidate.

 

Total: 10 arias and 1 poem.

 

Personal interview prior to the entrance exam.

 

 

COMPULSORY SUBJECTS

 

WRITTEN EXAM

 

Bass harmonisation: harmonisation of a bass line of ca. 10 notes, indication of the accords with figures.

 

Analysis: formal analysis of the opening movement of a sonata from the stylistic circle of Haydn and Mozart piano sonatas

 

Musical knowledge test:

a. Identification of 10 music pieces, possibly composer and title, but at least the epoch or style and  identification or the genre.

b. Explanation and interpretation of 10 music terms, concept, title of the composition/work, etc.
