Admission requirements for MA studies - Trumpet

 

 

1. Charlier: Etude Nr.2. from “36 Etudes Transcendantes”

 

2. Haydn: Concerto for Trumpet in E flat major

 

3. The candidate should choose one piece from the following:

 

Tomasi: Trumpet Concerto, 1st movement

Francaix: Sonatine for Trumpet and Piano

Zoltán Kovács: Capriccio Brasiliana

 

 

General Admission Requirements – MA

 

Written examination:

 Bass harmonisation: harmonisation of a bass line of cca. 10 notes, indication of the accords with figures.

 Analysis: formal analysis of the opening movement of a sonata from the stylistic circle of Haydn and Mozart piano sonatas.

 

 Exam in general music studies:

 a. Identification of 10 music pieces - possibly composer and title, but at least the epoch or style and identification or

     the genre.

b. Explanation and interpretation of 10 music terms, concepts, titles, etc.

 
The point is to increase gradually the level of the understanding, cultivation and practice of musical art. This task falls particularly to the new Academy. (Liszt to Antal Augusz)
